Yves le Canu

Yannick Le Canu

Passionate about bow making for many years, Yannick Le Canu began his training in 1995 in the Le Canu-Millant workshops in Paris while perfecting his skills with Eric Grandchamp in Crozon. He obtained his CAP as a bow maker in Mirecourt in 1998 and worked in the Arezzo workshop (Toulouse) from 2000 to 2004 before creating his own workshop in the heart of old Lille in 2004.

Heir to a recognized know-how, he devotes himself passionately to the manufacture of the bow without neglecting the restoration and maintenance of old and contemporary models. In this respect, he respects the tradition of the Grande Ecole d’Archèterie Française.

With 15 years of experience, this expert bow maker is always looking for improvement to satisfy many musicians in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Moreover, many of them play bows signed "Yannick Le Canu" which are today a reference in the profession. Yannick Le Canu is indeed renowned for his quality work and his rigor.

Since 1999, enriched by his various experiences, he has been rewarded with numerous distinctions by presenting his bows in international competitions (double silver medals in Paris, five times gold medals in the USA, Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 2007 and ranked “hors concours” in the USA in 2008). To date, his notoriety has earned him membership in the Jury of these competitions.

Master Classes by Pavel Vernikov, James Buswell, Nora Chastain, Radu Blidar, Marianne Piketty offered to candidates on Thursday November 13 and Saturday November 15.
